After months of getting derailed by billable projects at work, I finally was able to take (and pass!) the Sitecore CDP Certification exam this past April. In this post, I will share all the resources I used to prepare for the exam. I don’t have any “tips and tricks”, unfortunately. It’s a pretty straightforward exam — you just need to study well for it!

Exam Details

As of writing this post, the Sitecore CDP Certification Exam (2024) consists of 5 competencies spread out in 30 questions. You will need to score an 80% or above to pass it:

• Competency 1: Customer Data Platform
• Competency 2: Real-Time Behavioral Data Ingestion
• Competency 3: Interactive API
• Competency 4: Batch Data Ingestion
• Competency 5: Batch Segments and Audience Export

You can register for it via the Kryterion Web Assessor app. If you’re a Sitecore partner, log into okta.sitecore.com and you should see the Kryterion Web App in your “My Apps” section. If you are not in the Sitecore partner program, you may need to reach out to a Sitecore representative to help you sign up for an exam.

Once you pass the exam, you should receive an email from Kryterion and from Credly informing you that you’ve earned the Sitecore CDP Certification badge.

Sitecore Resources

Sitecore offers 2 learning paths you can take in preparation for the certification exam – CDP for Business Users and CDP for Technical Users. They also have a study guide available in the eLearning site. Personally, I found the learning paths a good starting point for review but you should try to study the documentation (user and developer) as well. I suggest reading up on the corresponding articles in the documentation site as you go through each topic in the learning paths.

Community Resources

Aside from the official resources Sitecore provides, I also scoured the internet for other blog posts, articles and review guides to study with. Here are some of the good ones I used:

• Sitecore with Raman – Raman Gupta’s post about his CDP exam experience is fairly new (July 2024) and has some good notes on areas of focus for the different competencies
• Tech Appetite – Ben Sewards built a simple NextJS application that simulates CDP data ingestion and shows how you can use the Engage SDK and Stream API
• Sitecore Gabe – Gabe Streza created an awesome online practice exam for FREE.99!!!

I also used a Google Docs file to compile all the notes I took while studying for the exam. The file includes the notes by Raman Gupta from the article above as well as some of my own. I also fed the compiled notes into ChatGPT to create a 50-question practice exam with an answer key and included them in the file. You can use the Document tabs on the left to navigate around the different sections of the file.
